Writs issued for Provincial By-elections in Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and Fort McMurray-Conklin

EDMONTON – Alberta’s Chief Electoral Officer, Glen Resler, confirms that a Writ of Election has been issued for Innisfail-Sylvan Lake and for Fort McMurray-Conklin. “The Returning Officer and Election Clerk have been appointed in each electoral division and both teams are ready to manage and conduct voting”, said Resler.
Election Day: July 12th, 2018
Voter Eligibility: Canadian citizens who are at least 18 years of age on Election Day are eligible to vote, if they are an ordinary resident of the electoral division.
Registration: To register to vote, an elector with an Alberta Driver’s Licence or an Alberta Identification Card, may register on-line at www.voterlink.ab.ca until June 30th, 2018. Otherwise, to register at an Advance Poll or on Election Day, you must provide authorized identification containing your name and address proving residence in the electoral division. A list of authorized identification is on our website: click on “Voters” and then click on “ID Required to Vote”.
Election Timelines:
- Electors have 28 days to vote by Special Ballot beginning today.
- Candidate nominations begin Thursday, June 14, 2018 and end at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018.
- Advance Polls begin Tuesday, July 3, 2018 and end on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
