Political Entities

Political Parties are groups that meet all legislative requirements and have registered with Elections Alberta. They must update their listing of executive members as changes occur and file financial statements on an annual basis to maintain registration.

Constituency associations are volunteer organizations endorsed by political parties to handle ongoing party affairs, including the collection of contributions, at the electoral division level. Constituency associations must be registered with Elections Alberta, and must update their listing of executive members as changes occur.

Candidates must file an Application for Registration with Elections Alberta, prior to Nomination Day. They must also file a Nomination Paper with the returning officer to be able to run in an election.
